About us.

Meet the team

Two experienced walking guides who have chosen to live and work in the surroundings of Rethymno. Both are attracted to the amazing beauty of the Island with its diverse range of mountains, sea, flora & fauna, to the locals and their traditions and its history.

As an organisation we operate in the prefecture of Rethymno, which is located in the northwest and situated between the cities Heraklion and Chania. Walking in small groups, on our non- touristic routes, you can enjoy the beautiful, rugged and lovely nature and it’s tranquillity.

Our hikes include a coffee stop in typical Greek coffee houses with a delicious lunch in a traditional tavern at the end, where we can all enjoy a pleasant get-together, after a wonderful day of hiking!

We are most happy to guide you on our walks!

Alida

I have lived in Crete since 1993 and worked as a tour guide for several years. This gave me the chance to get to know many beautiful places on the island. I got acquainted with the history, culture and traditions of its people. Back then, I already guided several gorge walks.

In 2007, besides working as a tour guide, I also started working as a walking guide at The Happy Walker in Rethymnon. The beautiful mountainous nature, walking with small groups became my passion and I chose to work fully as a walking guide.

I met Inky at The Happy Walker and we ‘clicked’ immediately! Together, we decided to start Happy Feet in 2021. The walkers, who have lost their hearts to Crete and return every year: I am grateful for your support!

Inky

Living in Crete since 2006, I started working as a walking guide at ‘The Happy Walker’ in Rethymnon in 2011…

Glad I was when Alida called me asking if I was interested in guiding walks. During the preparations that year, I knew: ‘This is it! This job fits me like a glove! I still feel privileged to be walking, guiding people in the incredibly beautiful nature of the island and showing them its culture and history.

I am very proud of what we have achieved so far with Happy Feet. Creating hikes and beautiful walks will never leave me. I am grateful for the support and trust of all the people who return every year to hike and enjoy our incredible island and its people with us.
