Moundros | Kato Poros.

Crete is known for its beautiful gorges, including the most famous of course: the Samaria. Besides this famous gorge, some 300 other gorges exist on the island.

A hike, during which we will visit no less than two gorges. We will start from the village of Moundros towards the Moundros gorge also called, Moundriano gorge.

This gorge is located between the villages of Moundros and Velonado. Very special in this beautiful gorge is the colony of vultures living high up in the rocks.

After a well-deserved coffee break, right at the end of the gorge, we continue our way towards the gorge of Kato Poros.

This green, fairy-tale gorge, full of plane trees, is located not far from the well-known village of Argiroupolis (ancient Lappa) with a pathway following the riverbed.

The most impressive part of the gorge is where the high walls nearly touch, creating a very narrow passage. This is why the gorge is also called the Twin Ravine!

After leaving this beautiful gorge, all that remains is the old footpath towards Kato Poros, where we end our walk at Eva and Stelios’ place with a delicious lunch.
