A beautiful random hike, which offers you a challenge through the ancient history of Crete and its magnificent, wild nature with its breath-taking views!
The walk starts in Margarites, the known pottery village and will lead us to the Ancient Eleftherna, situated on the high hills above the sea.
A journey through history up- and downhill amongst archaeological excavations, huge Roman water cisterns, ruins of a Byzantine town, Roman graves and the oldest bridge of Crete.
This, all by using dirt roads, old paths, passing from small mountain villages and small orthodox churches.
We will have a coffee break in the village of Ancient Eleftherna in a local coffee shop (cafe neon).
After the break we will continue through the gorge of Margarites which will lead us back to the village, where we enjoy a delicious lunch at the tavern.
Afterwards there will be time to explore the different pottery workshops.
