A beautiful random hike, which offers you a challenge through the ancient history of Crete and its magnificent, wild nature with its breath-taking views!
The walk starts in Margarites, the known pottery village and will lead us to the Ancient Eleftherna, situated on the high hills above the sea.
A journey through history up- and downhill amongst archaeological excavations, huge Roman water cisterns, ruins of a Byzantine town, Roman graves and the oldest bridge of Crete.
All this over unpaved roads, ancient trails, past small mountain villages and small Orthodox churches.
We will take a coffee break in the village of Ancient Eleftherna at a local coffee shop (café neon).
After the break, we continue through the Margarites gorge that will lead us back to the village, where we enjoy a delicious lunch in the tavern.
Afterwards, there will be time to explore the various pottery workshops.
